Maybe The Bachelor should take a page from Dancing with the Stars and incorporate some ballroom lessons into their dates, because, apparently, it’s the key to romance.
Tonight’s dancing was overshadowed by the happy news that pros Emma Slater and Sasha Farber are engaged!
Before he got down on one knee, Farber shared a gorgeous and steamy contemporary number with Slater in front of the live audience.
“First of all, you guys have great chemistry,” host Tom Bergeron said following the performance. “And Sasha, I’ve always thought you had the potential to actually host so I’m going to give the show over to you.”
Hint hint.
“Baby, I’ve wanted to do this for such a long time. I love you so, so much,” he said to Slater before pulling the ring out of his pocket and getting down on one knee. “Will you marry me?”
And the answer was a resounding, “Yes!”
Confetti then rained down from the ceiling while all the Dancing with the Stars cast members came out on stage to celebrate the happy news with the couple. The show even topped off the celebration with “Just the Way You Are,” by Bruno Mars playing in the background.
Now that’s a proposal!
Major props to ABC and the Dancing with the Stars cast and crew for organizing that for Farber and Slater. They did good.
A witness told E! News, “It was so magical! Everyone in the audience was teary eyed. The whole cast and judges all ran over to hug and congratulate them.”
Slater and Farber join Robert Herjavec and Kym Johnson and Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd, who met and got engaged thanks to Dancing with the Stars. So far, The Bachelor has only led to two successful marriages — Jason and Molly Mesnick and Sean and Catherine Lowe. The Bachelorette has a much better track record, to be fair.
Farber and Slater have been dating for five years, and the two are currently living together.
Even more reason to propose, Slater recently said she was ready to tie the knot. When a Fox reporter asked her if she was ready to get married, she responded, “I would like to. I feel like it’s soon. I’ve been hinting pretty heavily and if you tell all your girlfriends to go tell and him [that] I think I was ready for marriage now, then I think that’s a pretty strong hint. He probably gets it.”
Yup, I’m going to go ahead and say he got it.
Congrats to Slater and Farber on their engagement!
