Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux attend the 21st Annual Critics’ Choice Awards on January 17, 2023 in Santa Monica, California.
It doesn’t bother him! Justin Theroux revealed in a new interview that he doesn’t mind when people call him “Mr. Jennifer Aniston.” In fact, he says he’s proud of the nickname.
“It doesn’t really get under my skin. It’s just one of those things that’s a shorthand for describing who I am,” the Girl on the Train actor, 45, said during an interview with The Sunday Times.
Theroux continued, “[Jennifer] is a proper badass. She has lived through a lot of bulls-t. Many people would have crumbled under some of the stresses that have been put on her. I’m very proud of her for that, for the way she handles herself. So, in a weird way, it’s an honor to stand behind her. Truly, in that sense, she’s amazing.”
Aniston, 47, recently made headlines amid the drama surrounding her ex-husband Brad Pitt‘s shocking split from Angelina Jolie, but Theroux applauds his wife for the way she handles media scrutiny.
“There are definitely times when I don’t like walking past the newsstand in the U.S.,” the Leftovers star told the British newspaper. “You start to feel like the crazy person [with the media] portraying you as if you follow that s-t. When it first started happening, I’d sort of casually pay attention to it, and then I’d realize I was eating poison. Now I just avert my gaze.”
Theroux also praised Aniston for the powerful essay she wrote in July for The Huffington Post, in which she slammed pregnancy rumors and defended herself against body-shaming.
“I was very, very proud of her for writing that,” the actor told The Sunday Times. “It was very well written. She expressed herself beautifully.”
